Nativity production

Wow! What wonderful stars Oak Class were in our Nativity production!  They worked so hard; learning all the songs, getting changed into their costumes and sitting so still.   We hope you enjoyed coming to watch the performance.

We also had a visit from naughty Jack Frost this week.  He left us a message saying he had frozen Santa’s keys!  We had to work together to think about ways we could break the ice to release the keys.  It was fun but cold!

Getting ready for Christmas

Oak class have been working very hard, these past few weeks, to learn our class song for next week’s Nativity performance.  We have practised in the classroom, the hall and even outside on a stage made from our big building blocks! Some of us had a turn at being the audience, giving lots of applause.

It has been lovely hearing and seeing the children retell the Nativity story in different ways, using puppets, role play and through drawing.

In phonics, we have now learnt all the single sounds: a,b,c,d,e,f/ff,g,h,i,j,k,l/ll,m,n,o,p,qu,r,s/ss, t,u,v,w,x,y,z.   Can your child remember all these sounds when they see the written letters? Please help them practise, as quick recognition is so important for learning to read.

This week we enjoyed exploring the frosty morning, finding ice in the water tray and sparkling, frosty leaves.  We have been using our phonics to help us write about what we would do if we met Jack Frost.
